The Salesforce Spring ‘18 Release: What We’re Most Looking Forward To

January 25th, 2018 • 4 min read

It’s that time again: time for the Salesforce Spring ‘18 Release. There’s lots of good stuff in this season’s release and plenty to be excited about.

It’s all about Lightning

Salesforce is ramping up the Lightning platform. In the past, many features only lived in Classic, but this spring, Salesforce is moving more and more of those features into Lightning. Lightning users will have access to new themes and quick text as well as being able to quickly create forms.

Lightning + your brand

The Salesforce community has wanted to be able to customize their Lightning experience so it matches their branding.

And Salesforce listened. Now, you can give your customers a seamless brand experience with gorgeous themes and layouts. Plus, Lightning makes easy to do with clicks not code.

Another cool update? The Spring ‘18 Release includes a survey application. This will be a valuable tool to help you collect data and feedback from your customers.

Managing duplicates will be easier

Salesforce already offered a feature that helped avoid creating new duplicates, but admins had to rely on external apps to find duplicates that already existed. With the Spring ‘18 Release, Salesforce is offering a duplicate finder native to the platform. You’ll now be able to find and merge duplicates quickly and easily.

Improved customer and agent experience

The fact that Salesforce is majorly updating Lightning in the most recent releases proves that they are doing everything possible to make life simpler for admins, developers and agents.

For instance, this release updated the Get Field Service on the Road with Guided Setup feature so partners and admins don’t have to deal with the more cumbersome parts of setting up Field Service Lightning.

Your customer’s experience is going to be smoother as well. They’ll be able to easily access your agents through livechat and during their chat, your agents will be able to quickly search knowledge articles to answer questions and provide support.

When is this happening?

Sandboxes will be updated on February 9 and 10 so developers can learn how to navigate and use the new features. The updates will be rolled out to every organization, but some of the features will have to be manually enabled for your organization to get the full effect.

As a reminder if you plan on migrating to Lightning you can always run or rerun the Lightning Experience Readiness report and the new updates will be accounted for in the new report.

The takeaways

Salesforce is listening and working to improve experiences across the board.

Salesforce is invested in Lightning. Keep watching for more updates that make Lightning better and better each release.

AI is here to stay (obviously). Salesforce is doing everything they can to make data management simpler with artificial intelligence.
