Ask anyone what their perfect food pairing is and you’ll get answers galore: bacon and eggs, steak and potatoes, peas and carrots. But one classic, can’t-be-beat duo always seems to outrank them all: the one, the only, peanut butter and jelly!
The PB&J fans at Penrod love to pull together for a cause – and also enjoy a good debate – that’s why we were excited to join Feeding America for their 16th Annual PB&J Challenge. Throughout the month of February, Team Penrod collected jars of peanut butter, as well as jelly, to help bring healthy food to the community and the results are in!
We’re proud to announce we donated a total of 1,120 ounces of peanut butter and 298 ounces of jelly! That means a whopping 298 PB&J sandwiches and 262 peanut butter sandwiches.
In total, this effort sourced over 18,000lbs of PB&J, which when combined with the financial contributions received, will provide over 126,000 meals to those facing hunger in the community!
As the jars stacked up throughout the month, a great debate stirred: Which type of peanut butter rules supreme at Penrod, crunchy or creamy? It was close, bets were made, but the final tally came in at 600 ounces of creamy and 520 ounces of crunchy. The donations have spoken – creamy was crowned top peanut butter pick at Penrod!
Of course, in the true spirit of the challenge, there were no losers. Both fans of creamy and crunchy were champions for supporting Feeding America and can’t wait to help out again in 2020. (Although there have already been whispers around Penrod that next year, crunchy will crush it!)
At Penrod, our impact on the community goes beyond our office walls. Interested in joining a team that works hard, plays hard, and makes a difference in the lives of others? Apply today!
