Why I Work at Penrod: Ally Wentzell

One of the most frequently asked questions we get in our interviews is, “What do you like most about working at Penrod?” Since candidates are technically interviewing us as well, this is a totally fair question.

Like any company, Penrod has its strengths and weaknesses, but we think our strengths are pretty awesome. Ally Wentzell, our Talent Acquisition Coordinator, is here to spill the deets about what she likes most.

Before she worked at Penrod, she felt pulled toward the culture we’ve created: “A quick look at the website and the employee profiles drew me in. I wanted to be a part of a team where I felt like I mattered and Penrod felt like the place for me,” she said.

Once she was hired (wooo!), Ally quickly jumped into her role and began the process of finding and hiring top talent. She enjoys connecting with lots of new people each week, searching for the talent that best aligns with our culture. Ally is also a big fan of the autonomy she has with Penrod and in her role.

“I can really make my job what I want to make it,” she said. “My team and my boss trust me to explore new recruiting avenues and tactics to see what works best.”

But it’s not all work and no play (if you’ve read our Palooza blog, y’all already know); Ally also digs the culture of Penrod in the form of our events. She’s been voluntarily instrumental in planning and executing some mega fun events like a company-wide (virtual) scavenger hunt during quarantine to lift everyone’s spirits. See below for evidence of said lifted spirits.

Her favorite Penrod memory comes from her first Palooza. “There is something about getting all of the employees together in one place and really getting to know and appreciate your team that makes me appreciate the company even more.”

On top of feeling valued and attending fun events, Ally says Penrod is a place you’ll enjoy going every morning; it’s collaborative, team-oriented, and you’re encouraged to bring your authentic self.

With our emphasis on our people, employees like Ally can shine— and she certainly does. We think we’ll keep her!
