From our little corner of the world, we knew technology was transforming the healthcare industry, but at HIMSS ‘18, we learned just how radical the transformation is. A few of our team members attended the conference last week in Las Vegas, and based on what they learned, we’re excited about the future of healthcare.
Passion for patient care
We were blown away by how passionate healthcare providers and healthcare companies are about patient care. And this is good news for all of us, because whether you work in healthcare or not, at some point in your life, you will touch this industry. In the past, clunky legacy software systems did the bare minimum to serve patients.
Now, these tools have evolved into multi-channel engagement platforms that are greatly enhancing both the patient experience, and the provider’s ability to serve. It was inspiring to see so many companies focused on how they can provide the best technology in the healthcare space to better serve their patients.
Healthcare companies can reinvent patient care with tech
Tech companies change just about every industry they touch, and healthcare is no exception. Just one example – we got to work with Curexa on their Salesforce Health Cloud implementation, something we shared at HIMSS. At HIMSS, we co-presented with Curexa about how they use Health Cloud to drive better patient care and reinvent the way they connect with patients, providers, payers, and drug manufacturers.
Curexa is a dynamic, agile company, and that culture is what makes them so successful at transforming their business with technology. They’ve been able to push new Salesforce technologies to the limits. Large competitors often don’t have the ability to innovate as quickly as a company like Curexa so being able to share this story was really fun.
Trusted partners can help them do that
Attempting to drive digital transformation on your own is a big risk. There’s evidence in the failed legacy tools that most companies are now trying desperately to move away from. Having a partner allows you to have access to a wealth of knowledge from other similar, successful, use cases as well as giving you a trusted source that will challenge you when you start to fall back on old familiar habits. Health and life science companies should own their vision, but they don’t have to be responsible for the “What” AND the “How”.
